Electrical Vs Electronics

To Every non-tech person, if you would ask about the difference Between Electrical and electronics, he might not clearly differentiate that. We have done the survey of hundreds of people and asked the same question to everyone and about 70 % of the people replied the same that there is not a big difference between them. However, let me tell you these two branches are far away from the reach of each.

Electrical Engineering is the branch of engineering which deals with the production and distribution of the electricity either on the large scale or at the intermediate level. They primary deals with the transmitting the power with the electrical as well as the mechanical objects, electrical machinery, problems of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy, motors and their control, electrical controls in factories and transformers. One of its objectives is to provide electrical power to customers. On the other hand, if we talk about the Electronics then it deals with semiconductor devices such as Diodes, Bipolar Junction Transistors, Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors and their interconnections on a printed circuit board as well as in the form of integrated circuits. In includes Digital Electronics, Analog Electronics, Power Electronics, Computer Networking, Microelectronics, Consumer Electronics and Embedded Systems. The field is of great development and has scope of research.

If we through some light on the history of Electrical then it was the early 18th century when The first practical application of electricity was invented as the telegraph by Samuel F.B. Morse in 1837. The need for electrical engineers was not fulfilling until some 40 years later, upon the invention of the telephone (1876) by Alexander Graham Bell and of the incandescent lamp (1878) by Thomas A. Edison. These devices and Edison’s first central generating plant in New York City (1882) created a large demand for men trained to work with electricity. Hence, the demand of electrical appliances has increased from the decade. On the other hand, if we talk about the Electronics then Electronics is much new as compare to the Electrical because the electronics has taken the birth from the electrical engineering. Electronic engineering as a profession sprang from technological improvements in the telegraph industry in the late 19th century, the radio, and the telephone industries in the early 20th century. People were attracted to radio by the technical fascination it inspired, first in receiving and then in transmitting. Many who went into broadcasting in the 1920s were only 'amateurs' in the period before World War I .so as the result we can say that Electrical is the mother of Electronics and not only Electronics the Computer science and the instrumental is also the daughters of electrical Engineering.

If we see on the Equipment’s side then the Electrical, equipment works on greater than 24 Volts like Refrigerator, Television etc. but in a case of Electronics, this range is defined up to 24 Volts. So according to that the electronics equipment can be repaired and replaced at very low cost compare to Electrical equipment. The cost factor of Electronics Equipment is low as compare to Electrical Equipment. Therefore, as the conclusion, we can say that like a child who can’t survive without mother, electrical is a backbone of Electronics system.
